In the years from 1917 to 1924, he designed the curtain, sets, and costumes for a handful of ballets. Pablo also liked to write poetry. He started writing poetry in 1935 and even authored two plays in the 1940s.
In 1944, he joined the French Communist Party just after Paris had been liberated from the Nazis. The child prodigy, Pablo, also made a drawing as part of an unsuccessful effort to save a Greek communist leader from the firing squad, and he even designed a portrait of Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin. His artworks were incredible. According to the Art Loss Register, more than 1,147 works of Pablo Picasso that are missing, more than twice as many as any other artist.
Nearly half a century after his death, Picasso still continues to confuse, bewitch, entice, and provoke people through his artworks.
