This 14-Year-Old is The Winner of ‘The World’s Best’ Contest | Lydian Nadhaswaram

When Lydian Nadhaswaram fingers flew over the piano keys, it became clear that he deserved to win ‘The World’s BestGlobal Talent Contest. The Chennai youngster amazed the judges at the contest by playing 280 beats per minute and then increased his speed to 325 beats per minute. 

How Lydian Nadhaswaram Got Interested in Piano?

Lydian lives with his family in Chennai, TamilNadu. His sister and his father play the piano, and they inspired this youngster. When he was 9, his father sent him a YouTube video of a Chinese boy playing the piano. He got inspiration, and that’s how he took an interest in it. The teenager told The Hindu that he spends an average of six hours a day practicing music under the guidance of his father, Varshan Satish, a music director.

Lydian Nadhaswaram may be too young, but his skills as a pianist reveal maturity beyond his age. The 14-year-old studies at the KM Music Conservatory in Chennai, run by Oscar-winning music director AR Rahman.

He is now presenting a Hindi film that marks the acting debut of Lydian in the central role. In this film, Lydian plays a 12-year-old protagonist, Guddu, a tea delivery boy, and has a passion for observing and creating new sounds.

The Young Pianist Won $1 Million Prize money | Lydian Nadhaswaram

In 2019, Lydian won the The World’s BestGlobal Talent Contest, taking home $1 million in prize money. The young pianist was also featured on the Ellen DeGeneres Show after his appearance on the ‘The World’s Best’ contest.

The piano prodigy can play blindfolded and can handle two pianos simultaneously. Lydian is now investing time on the technical side, learning skills such as mixing, sound systems. He does not watch much television, but he is a regular on YouTube.

Global Child Prodigy Awardee

The Global Child Prodigy is the first and only organization recognizing the talents from various countries and backgrounds. The GCP Awards list includes the children having extreme competency in their field of interest, such as painting, modeling, writing, entrepreneurship, martial art, music, social work, etc.

Lydian Nadhaswaram received the Global Child Prodigy Award in January 2020 for music. He was also among the Top 100 Child Prodigies of the year.

Lydian’s Biggest Inspiration

Lydian says that AR Rahman Sir is his most immense support in life. He has motivated Lydian and advised him a lot.

Lydian says, “I have learnt a lot of things from him. He is one of my biggest inspirations. He also did a felicitation function for me at his music college in Chennai. That’s so kind of him.”
